Autumn in Paphos brings weather that is slightly cooler in the evenings than the summer but the afternoons are still summery all the way up until mid November. During this time the colours of the vineyards and trees around Cy[prus go through their colour change. Each year, during the autumn, a festival takes place called the Kypria Festival. Dramatic and musical performances take place during this time all over Cyprus island and Paphos. Although the weather in Paphos is slightly cooler it still feels like summer and the sea is still warm enough for a pleasant swim

Following the grape harvest, throughout the month of September, locals like to gather and enjoy some folk performances whilst feasting on white grape blancmange and nuts. White grape blancmange is a jelly-like delicacy made from the produce
of the grape harvest and visitors to Cyprus and Paphos during this time should try out the local delicac. It is also a good lead to the Afamia Grape Festival in October, which we will look at in October’s round-up of events.

Many visitors to Paphos choose to come during the months of October and November. The days are still pleasantly warm but the evenings cool down bringing welcome relief from the heat. In the Troodos forests, the leaves are turning and Paphos vineyards take on gold and crimson hues all made more beautiful by the clear autumn sunlight.

Daytime conditions often feel like summer so it is wise to pack light clothing. However, it is worth noting that by late afternoon and evening, the temperature drops significantly so, in order to enjoy going out, medium-weight autumn clothing is necessary. In Paphos, water sports are still on offer in October and it isn’t unusual to swim in the Mediterranean until early November. During a Cyprus autumn, it is pleasant to dine in a traditional Cypriot taverna.

The best time to go to Paphos depends on the kind of experience you wish to have. With its intense Mediterranean climate, Cyprus island’s weather is easy to predict. October to May are the quiet months of autumn, winter and spring, when the landscape is covered with wildflowers that seem to encompass every colour in the rainbow. Walking either the Troödos Massif or the Akamas Peninsula, or cycling the Karpas (Kırpaşa) Peninsula in the North is most enjoyable in the autumn and spring months.
